Dauntless held in the river by tugs whille the hawsers are detached and the sliding ways are removed from under the hull. The ship on the left is the patrol vessel Jerambak, one of three built by BAE Systems at Scotstoun for the Royal Brunai Navy. The berthside crane on the right was being slewed round to lift the remains of the sliding ways from the water once they had been gathered up by the small launches. The crane is one of around twelve built by Clark Chapman John Thompson Ltd in the 1970s (they replaced the earlier post war berthside cranes provided by Butters Bros, Babcock & Wilcox and Sir William Arrol). The lattice steel structure on the left is part of the Giant Cantilever Crane built in 1911 - see next picture.
