Another view east along the River Clyde with Bell's Bridge closing after having swung open to allow the paddle steamer Waverley to pass upriver to her base at Anderston Quay. Waverley can be seen in mid river to the right of the Stobcross Crane.
Since this picture was taken two further bridges have been built across the river - the Millenium Bridge between Stobcross and Plantation Quays (in 2000) and the Clyde Arc between Finnieston Quay and Mavisbank Quay (in 2007). As a result it is not possible for Waverley, the World's Last Seagoing Paddle Steamer, (or any other large vessel) to access the harbour east of Finnieston. Waverley is now based at Plantation Quay beside the Glasgow Science Centre. More information at:
