From Princes Dock to Pacific Quay

The Cessnock Dock, later renamed Prince's Dock, was completed in September 1897 . It consisted of three parallel dock basins leading off a large canting basin. Two-storey transit sheds were built along all of the quay walls except the south quay which was set aside as a minerals handling quay. A part of the west quay was intended as a fitting out area and provided with a heavy lift steam crane similar to the one installed at Finnieston Quay in 1893. The Dock was also used for access to the large Govan Drydock No 3
