In this 1978 view the Greek Epirotiki Lines passenger ship Odysseus is seen laid up at Mavisbank Quay in Glasgow with the preserved paddle steamer Waverley and the small motor vessel Queen of Scots across the river at Stobcross Quay (the then base of Waverley Steam). Orininally the Odysseus had been the Irish Sea mailboat Leinster before going to Greece as a small cruise ship. In the early 1970s she returned to the UK as a workers accommodation vessel at the oil platform construction yard at Loch Kishorn in Wester Ross. She was laid up at Mavisbank Quay for a time after that work finished.
In 1988 Mavisbank Quay was utilised as part of the Glasgow Garden festival. During the 1990s the eastern part of the quay was redeveloped for residential purposes and is now known as Mavisbank Gardens
In 2006 the western part of Mavisbank Quay became the home of the new studios of STV (Scottish Television):
