Within a very short space of time in 2006-07 the Pacific Quay development became the centre of the Scottish television broadcasting industry. First to arrive was the commercial television company SMG plc, parent company of STV Central Ltd (formerly Scottish Television) and STV North Ltd (formerly Grampian Television). Since 30 May 2006 both franchises have broadcast under the common 'STV' brand.
SMG moved to this new purpose built administration and studios building located on the western section of the former Mavisbank Quay between Mavisbank Road and Plantation Place. The building and its external grounds occupies the entire space between the South Rotunda of the former Harbour Tunnel and the Four Winds Building, the only two two original building surviving in the development area.
